Data Trends 2025

Jan 10, 2025

As it’s the beginning of a new year we thought we’d join the fray and come up with our list of data analytics trends that will be gaining traction in 2025. This is what we came up with.

  1. Artificial Intelligence
This has to be on most lists… In terms of data we expect to see more AI tools for cleaning data sets, automating analysis and adding more sophistication to predictive analytics.
  2. Data democratisation
As data driven decision making becomes more important there’s growing demand to make analytics more accessible to non-technical people. This will prompt increased investment in training programs that improve data literacy. As data driven decision making becomes more important there’s growing demand to make analytics more accessible to non-technical people. This will prompt increased investment in training programs that improve data literacy.
  3. Real time analytics
Continued growth in IoT devices will lead to more analytics ‘at the edge’ – closer to where data is created. Reducing time taken to analyse data and enabling real time decision making.
  4. Data warehousing
Cloud based data warehouses and data lakes will continue to develop, making it easier to scale up analytics and simplifying integration with other cloud based services.
  5. Data integration
There will be continued growth in demand to integrate data from multiple sources i.e. internal systems, third party APIs and IoT tools. ETL (extract, transform, load) tools will offer increased automation and real time integration to help manage this diverse range of data.
  6. Data quality
Increasing amounts of data and increased reliance on data driven decision making is leading to more demand for the automation of data quality and governance processes.
  7. Data driven customer experience
Data analytics helps businesses to understand their customers. The continued desire to get closer to those customers will see analytics being used even more to design highly tailored products, services and communication in real time.
  8. Mobile BI
The increase in remote working is driving development of mobile apps, making it easier for users to access BI reports and analytics on mobile devices. There will also be more use of GPS and mobile sensor data to provide local insights and decision making.
  9. Data visualisation enhancements
Visualisation tools will take advantage of augmented and virtual reality technology to provide a more immersive experience.
  10. Quantum computing
We’re still at the very early stages of quantum computing, but it has the potential to handle problems that are beyond the power of traditional computers.

It’s not an exhaustive trend list and neither is it scientific, but we think we’ve got some of them right. Let us know what other data topics should be on the list.

Happy new year!
