Data Visualisation Trends 2025

Feb 7, 2025

Some thoughts on data visualisation in 2025: More automation, integration, personalisation and immersive experience. Plus more artificial intelligence. These enhancements will enable visualisation to become more intuitive and capable of handling complex data in real-time to provide deeper insights and more informed decision-making.

Let us know what else you would add to our list of 10 trends.

  1. Data storytelling
Data visualisations add more dynamism to storytelling where visuals adapt as the narrative unfolds. Users will be able to choose which data sections to explore and how to visualise it.
  2. Data democratisation
Data visualisation tools will become more user-friendly, enabling non-technical users to generate sophisticated visuals.
  3. AI powered data visualisation
AI will have an important role in generating insights from complex datasets. Algorithms will detect patterns, suggest visualisations and deliver tailored insights for specific audiences. Data analysis will become easier for non-technical users thanks to natural language processing (NLP) where AI generates visualisations based on user queries.
  4. Augmented and virtual reality
As AR and VR becomes more accessible, data visualisation will move from 2D to immersive 3D environments where users can interact with data in real time using VR headsets.
  5. Real time streaming
There will be increased demand for visuals that update dynamically in response to live data streams. Edge computing and growth in the use of IoT devices will facilitate this demand.
  6. AI generated visuals
AI tools will suggest design features such as colour, layout and chart types based on the data being analysed. AI will also automate repetitive tasks.
  7. Embedded visualisations
Instead of separate dashboards, data visuals will be directly embedded in business applications, websites and software tools so users have direct access to data insights.
  8. Data security
Expect advancements enabling users to share sensitive insights without exposing raw data or breaching privacy laws.
  9. Geospatial visuals
Advanced mapping will spur the growth of interactive 3D maps, geospatial heatmaps and layered geographic data.
  10. Collaboration
As remote working and cross-functional teams becomes more common, data platforms will allow teams to interact with and edit data visuals in real time.
