Logistic Trends 2025

Jan 16, 2025

Driven by coffee and a MS Teams meeting that ended earlier than scheduled - here’s a list of 8 logistics trends we expect to hear more of in 2025.

  1. Enhanced delivery options
Battling on two fronts – reducing costs and improving customer experience, expect more same day and on-demand delivery options plus a huge expansion in out of home (OOH) deliveries, particularly via parcel lockers.
  2. Pricing flexibility
Surcharges, fees, increased focus on dimensional weight pricing and charging for ‘value added services’ to compensate for low general tariff increases. Dynamic discounting / pricing to nudge customer behaviour.
  3. C2C and cross border ecommerce
The growth of parcel lockers plus more sophisticated shipping and paperwork tools will boost C2C (customer to customer) traffic and cross border ecommerce by making shipping easier and more cost effective.
  4. Customer experience
IoT tools, cloud based platforms and data analytics will combine to enable more timely tracking updates and services tailored to individual customer preferences.
  5. Data driven decision making
In addition to driving customer experience, IoT, cloud platforms and data analytics will support data democratisation and support the spread of data driven decision making throughout an organisation.
  6. Automation & Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Expect to see more AI deployed in demand forecasting, route optimisation, tracking and warehouse management tools with the goal of reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
  7. Sustainability initiatives
Whilst sustainability may not grab as many headlines as in previous years, efforts to reduce carbon footprint will continue e.g. via electric vehicles, parcel lockers and circular supply chain initiatives.
  8. Supply chain optimisation
Near-shoring, supplier diversification and enhanced monitoring designed to limit exposure to geopolitical upheaval and reduce costs.

What else would you add to the list and what would you remove from it? Let us know!
