Did you know that road haulage is worth around £13.5 billion to the UK economy? Or that there are over 400,000 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in the UK and 1.5 million people work in its transport and storage sector?

Road haulage is an important component of the logistics industry, a sector that keeps things moving for other industries, ensuring that vital raw materials, spare parts and finished goods get to where they need to be. Some of our logistics clients and contacts are members of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and we thought it was time we joined to show our support for this vital part of the economy.

The RHA has been supporting the road transport industry since 1945, providing its members with technical and professional services.

The Road Haulage Association also campaigns on a range of issues that affect both its members and the community at large, including:

1. Skills

   Ensuring the industry attracts, trains and retains a skilled workforce.

2. Environment

   Supporting the move towards net zero by providing members with the knowledge needed to make investment decisions that are consistent with the net zero objectives set by the government.

3. Driver facilities

   Campaigning for more lorry parking, a higher standard of driver facilities, and improved driver welfare and wellbeing.

4. Costs and regulation

   Working to simplify legislation and reducing costs, making it easier for members to provide their services.

5. Infrastructure

   Supporting investment in roads, technology and connectivity which will facilitate economic growth for all.

6. International

   Removing the obstacles to doing business internationally at borders and on the roads.
