The Information Factory was delighted to play a small part in creating the book; Exploring New Frontiers – beyond disruption to a more resilient eco-system, which was published at last week's Parcel Post Expo.

The book brings together over 20 perspectives from postal operators, regulators, postal banks, consultancies and academics across five continents. Many of those contributors were present at the Expo and it was a pleasure to share the stage with these experts during the launch event.

Our chapter, written by Manale Azar with support from Robert Jordan and Gordon Steward, focused on the shift from letter mail to parcels, suggesting that traditional average-based costing models are no longer adequate. The chapter proposes an event driven, end-to-end framework that allocates full general ledger costs to individual shipments through activities triggered by tracking scans to enable accurate shipment level profitability, pricing and network decisions.
